Rumah terbakar panggil bomba…

…bomba datang berlumba-lumba.

We all grew up listening to such songs, no? But when a real fire breaks out, it’s certainly no child’s play.

My aunt, and my little cousin were alerted by a loud knock on the door yesterday. Turns out, the coffeeshop right below their apartment caught fire. So they hurried downstairs. In their haste to evacuate, my aunt forgot her slippers and went down in her “baju butterfly”. Classic, I tell you.

Poor little, ten year-old cousin of mine, kept on crying. When probed, she said…

“… kalau buku adik semua terbakar,

besok macam mana nak pergi sekolah?”

wah, finally. A student who bothers to bring her books to school. ekekeke Anyway, the fire did not spread to the second floor apartment above the coffeeshop. Alot of soot, but their house was pretty much intact; adik’s books included.

Haven’t been feeling very well the whole of this week. Feel very weak. And no, not much time to rest. Many many group presentations/ tutorials to prepare for. :(   hot & cold. I think there’s a flu bug going around.

American Idol top 24 kicks ass. Powerful vocals, coupled with stage presence.

Registeration successful. Will make payment tomorrow. :) wish me luck

Looking forward to this Sunday, and next Friday. :) a getaway is what we BOTH need.

The day started off with very bad tummy cramps. Dragged myself to a project meeting… and to TW, to teach.

…wanted to end the day with teh, but the cramps got the better of me.

Thanks, for the string of sms-es. Very thoughtful of all you hor? Enjoy.

… and my laptop got problem. Cannot type “M” properly. I can only use one S.Moll’s word to sum up today.

“…HAIYO!…”

Last but not least,

cerpens that have won awards should be page turners. Not anvils on my eyelids. Gahhh. Perhaps it’s just the time of the month. I should really sleep now. double haiyo.

At first, money was definitely the main motivation. But as time passed, I realized it was more than just that. I looked forward to teaching this bunch because I never got the chance to mingle with students from a neighbourhood school. Was from BP, taught only in HPPS & CHIJ. It certainly is very interesting to observe such a different culture.

One may assume that a Normal Technical class would be full of intimidating teenagers armed with killer stares and vulgarities. However, I felt the class I dealt with was of an even more complex combination. Sure there were the boys with the KNNs & CBs, but there was a particular one that caught my attention.

He’d come up to me and persistently keep asking me the weirdest questions that have absolutely no relation with whatever I was teaching.

“Cher, how much is a fullscap paper?”

“Cher, I think I want buy fullscap… How much ah?”

“Cher pleaseeee. Pleaseeeeee tell me how much is a fullscap paper?”

“How much? I just really need to know!”

He’d come up to me, and every few minutes my lessons would be punctuated with his questions. I brushed him off, told him I didn’t know. But he didn’t give up, so in the end I gave a rough estimate,

 ”$…1.50.”

Today he asked me about a certain row of yellow chairs. Only God knows what/which yellow chairs he was referring to. I wonder what he’ll come up with next week?

I get weird dreams when I get too stressed about things. Woke up confused today. You know, the way one feels after having a whole bunch of bizzarre dreams put together; ones that simply just don’t make sense?

Dreamt of wrestlers having a firey debate over Sejarah Melayu. and then, suddenly I was in the middle of a road, with an ugly furry keychain in my hand. I threw it away, and suddenly the little furball grew into a little gremlin. WTH? I “jumped” to several other equally weird scenes but I can’t quite recall exactly what they were…

 …

Went to the doc to get an MC yesterday. Since it was a family doc who knew about my family’s history of having high bp, he decided to check mine. I can’t remember exactly what the reading was, but it consisted of two numbers and the first one was 80. Meaning, I have (unexpectedly) low bp. Which is not too good either, because he felt if it drops a tad more i’d experience light-headedness and get dizzy spells. He said he’d be more comfortable with my bp if it would at least reach 90.

But I feel fine, so no reason to worry. Perhaps it’s just dehydration. I googled and found out that the lack of water can cause low bp, so it’s probably just that.

Alrights, have a good day people!

Hit Jayybeee. Started off with a yummy meal at Kenny Roger’s.

Then off to Kamdar and flower shops in Angsana.

goofed around a little with the hats in the store.

lepak-ed at Danga Bay for a late night snack and teh. Bought new specs for RM 10. Though damn cheap, it sorta had a multi-coated effect because as you can see below, it didn’t reflect light. weee damn happy. can wear to school lor.

… perhaps we should go danga bay again on another day. Didn’t know they got cheap stuff like 5RM thin shawls and a whole bazaar.

On the train ride back (it’s been ages since the three of us shared a trip back from cck together), we realized how geeky our sec sch jokes were. They ranged from distorted, revised versions of peribahasa…

“… kecil-kecil cili padi, kecil lagi biji cili…”

to naming weird people we encountered in the mrt with names like “makcik logamaya”. The one that just, out of the blue (accidentally) exclaimed in the MRT,

“…eh! ALAmAK!!!”

terlupa tutup tingkap kott.

hahahahahaha

Till Sunday loves. :) for now, it’s back to my readings.

A Walk back to Jalan Teck Whye…

… came back to the military band on the temporary BPGHS school compound.

met familiar faces like tiger Tan, Ms Yati, Mr Gooi and our dear friend Kumar who I have seen marching on that field since 1998.

Pictures of Matt & me back at Jalan Teck Whye.

(while taking a breather from my SM presentation, here are the photos…)

the sweet Ms Yati & I.

Who can forget Tiger Tan?

The camera shy band instructor, Mr Gooi.

The man responsible for locking and unlocking the school facilities.

That green field that once witnessed our joys and pains.

Remember the trees the TWSS NCC boys used to climb and hide in during their trainings? Well, this is pretty much what’s left. Just stumps. Boo.

and of course, we were greeted by the ah pek n nyonya of the drinks stall.

“… yes boy, what you want?”

That soyabean packet drink that came with the straw inside. The classic cut fruits and green jelly I used to survive on during my crash diet days. Still served in that same green container.

hehehe. some things never change. I certainly enjoyed basking in the familiarity of it all, recalling those priceless memories of adolescence.

It’s a pity I couldn’t find the finals version.

Frankly, I don’t quite fancy hitching a ride even with friends on a regular basis. Even when I do, mostly I will insist on paying for fuel or food later on. But honestly, I prefer going public, and Dya can so vouch that. Besides, Love taught me that “kuasa budi” is something I should preferably not tamper with….

I’m very excited about tomorrow. Going back to the old bandroom with Matt after my conversational Malay class tomorrow at TWSS. Ah memories. Perhaps I should consider teaching back in good old BP. Alot of the current teachers are ex-BPians anyway. Hmmm. and missing sec sch is partially the reason why I choose to be in the profession, so yerp maybe I SHOULD really consider.

and weee Sunday Jaybeeeee! Must bring extra cash this time. I am uber excited about being Matt’s righthand woman. You can expect lotsa pictures after that!

I should really get a headstart on my individual assignments. ugh.

Not feeling too good today. But MC-ing on a day with only a two hour long class is a waste of good time and money. Hopefully, I’d feel better tomorrow morning.

Nisa, maybe this friday would be a good day to pay a visit to good old Apollo Centre. hekhek.
